LAFAYETTE, LA – Wow, this was a huge surprise.

Well-loved street corner-trombonist put down the brass and picked up the headphones last night after surprising the Festival International crowd with a 90-minute EDM set, crammed full of special effects and enough strobe lighting to make you think that you were coked up on a Greek island.

Despite not being on the official festival schedule, John appeared on the Fais Do-Do stage at 9:45pm instead of the penciled-in “Egyptian” musician Wayne Al-Toupsi.

And then, in a further surprise, he then played an intimate set for around 50 people and six raccoons in the alleyway behind the old Athena’s restaurant on Jefferson Street.

Keep an eye out for him tonight and Sunday – who knows where he’ll end up next!
